Techie Festival offers lectures and demos for students, faculty and staff

Staff, faculty and students are invited to attend Stanford’s First Annual Techie Festival, sponsored by the university’s IT Services Technology Training office.

The festival will take place Aug. 17-31, with two lecture classes held daily, in Turing Auditorium, located in Polya Hall, 255 Panama Street.

The event will feature three-hour lectures and demonstrations—in morning and afternoon sessions—on a variety of topics, including “Searching the Web: It’s Not Just Google,” “Demystifying Web 2.0—Social Networking,” “Overview of Web Languages: Putting it all Together,” and “iPhone Apps.”

Other lectures include: “Office 2007: What’s New?,” “Excel 2007 Macros,” “Word 2007 Power Tools,” and “Excel 2007: Formatting Professional-Looking Spreadsheets.”

Each lecture/demonstration costs $125. STAP funds apply.
