Talk will shed light on medical imaging

Medical imaging has progressed far beyond the days of the X-ray, becoming a powerful scientific research and health-care tool that can do everything from detecting cancers to witnessing molecules in action.

To help the public understand this rapidly changing field, Gary M. Glazer, MD, professor and chair of the Department of Radiology, will give a lecture, "The changing world of medical imaging." The event is June 7 at 7 p.m. in the Clark Center auditorium.

Glazer will discuss how imaging as a diagnostic tool can pinpoint cancers early and non-invasively. He also will cover how molecular imaging brings to light proteins and genes as they move inside a cell.

Glazer's lecture is part of a series of community lectures organized by the dean's office. Admission is free, and no registration is required.
