Administrative associates can register for spring conference

Registration is now open for an annual spring conference to be held on Tuesday, April 18, in conjunction with Administrative Professionals Day. The goal of the half-day event is to show appreciation for the daily contributions of all the university's administrative professionals, as well as provide assistance with issues and challenges faced by office support staff.

The conference, sponsored by the department of Training and Organizational Development (T&OD), will begin with a keynote speech by education Professor Myra Strober. Participants will then have a chance to attend two of seven workshops, with topics ranging from "Clarifying Your Values for Satisfying Work" to embracing diversity to stress management and relaxation techniques.

T&OD introduced the conference last year as a component of the department's Administrative Associates Development Program (AADP). This event is intended for administrative associates A1 to A5, and all AADP offerings are open to benefits-eligible employees. (More details also are contained in the Spring 2006 Training Opportunities Guide.)

Staff can register for the conference (course code: TOD-5017) via STARS at http://axess.stanford.edu/. The event is free and will be held at the Frances C. Arrillaga Alumni Center from 7:45 a.m. to 12:10 p.m. Attendance is restricted to 250 participants.

This year, Administrative Professionals Week falls on the last week in April.
