THOMAS KAILATH, the Hitachi America Professor in the School of Engineering, Emeritus, will be inducted into the Silicon Valley Engineering Hall of Fame on Feb. 24. Kailath is noted for professional achievements in information theory, systems and control, and very large scale integrated circuit design. Once inducted, Kailath will join the ranks of luminaries such as Robert Noyce, co-inventor of the integrated circuit; Gordon Moore, co-founder of Intel Corp.; Douglas Engelbart, inventor of the computer mouse; and Stanford President John Hennessy, a pioneer in reduced instruction set computing.
