Deadline for Saroyan prize extended
The deadline for entries for the William Saroyan International Prize for Writing has been extended to Feb. 28. The biennial prize was established by the Stanford University Libraries and the William Saroyan Foundation to encourage new or emerging writers.
A $12,500 prize in each of two categories will be awarded in the competition. The fiction category includes novels, short stories, dramatic works or memoirs; the nonfiction category will consider biography, history or works on the environment. Submissions must be in English, must be available to the general public for purchase and must have been first published during 2003 or 2004. Entries are due at the Stanford University Libraries on or before Feb. 28.
