Lovell, administrative associate in School of Engineering, dies

Carol Grace Lovell, an administrative associate in external relations at the School of Engineering, died of pancreatic cancer at her home in Los Altos on April 9. She was 63.

Lovell began working at Stanford in the summer of 1998. She had held the same position until illness prompted her to take a leave of absence on Nov. 30, 2004. A memorial was held at her home on April 20. No additional services are planned.

Lovell was born in Washington, D.C., and graduated from Holton-Arms School in 1959. After graduating from Randolph-Macon Woman's College in 1963, she received a master's degree from the University of Maryland in 1972.

Lovell enjoyed ballet, music, history, cooking and outdoor activities. She was fluent in Russian, French and German and traveled widely—having hiked throughout Europe and England. She worked as a volunteer at the Filoli estate in Woodside and the Allied Arts Guild of Menlo Park.

Lovell has no surviving family in the area. Donations in her memory can be made to the Friends of Allied Arts, 75 Arbor Road, Menlo Park, CA 94025, or to Pathways Hospice Foundation, 485 N. Mary Ave., Sunnyvale, CA 94086.
