The safety and well-being of our campus community

As the violence in Israel and Gaza continues, we are particularly concerned about the safety and well-being of our campus community. We abhor the loss of innocent lives and understand the grief and fear many in our community are experiencing. The Department of Public Safety and other campus partners are actively working to secure the safety of the campus and investigating several incidents. It is incumbent on everyone in the community to work to be thoughtful and substantive in engaging with others’ strongly-held views and avoid taking actions that may appear to target individuals.

We ask all to observe the responsibilities that go along with the exercise of their First Amendment rights, including respect for others and the boundaries of threats and harassment. There is no place for hate and physical violence on this campus.

Sincerely,

Richard Saller, President
Jenny Martinez, Provost
