Thomas Kailath

THOMAS KAILATH, the Hitachi America Professor in the School of Engineering, Emeritus, has been elected as a foreign member of the Royal Society, the British national academy of science. He was cited for his work in information and communication theory; linear systems, estimation and control; signal processing; linear algebra and matrix theory; statistics; and probability. He has written classic textbooks, mentored 100 doctoral and postdoctoral scholars, and co-founded companies with his students.
