University holidays for 2001

The dates for observance of the designated University holidays in 2001 are as follows. The university will observe the same number of holidays as were observed in 2000.

New Year's Day Monday, Jan. 1, 2001

Martin L. King Jr. Day Monday, Jan. 15, 2001

Presidents' Day Monday, Feb. 19, 2001

Memorial Day Monday, May 28, 2001

Independence Day Wednesday, July 4, 2001

Labor Day Monday, Sept. 3, 2001

Thanksgiving Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001 and Friday, Nov. 23, 2001

Winter Holiday Monday, Dec. 24, 2001

Christmas Day Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2001

The employee's Birthday Holiday may be taken on either the employee's birthday (if a regular work day) or another work day, mutually agreed upon by the supervisor and the staff member, which falls within 365 days following the employee's birthday.  

Some staff request time off on other work days to observe either religious days or other days of special significance. Employees requesting such time off may be reminded that they can elect to use their Birthday Holiday to provide time off with pay on a day of special significance, subject to the concurrence of their supervisor.
