The Haas Center for Public Service and the Stanford in Silicon Valley Project will host a panel discussion titled "Building Community from the Grassroots: Approaches to Collaborative Community and Economic Development" from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 18, in Room 180 of the Law School.
The panel will explore the Hewlett Foundation's approach to community and economic development in the neighborhoods of East Palo Alto, San Jose and Oakland. Featured speakers will include Mario Paz of the Peninsula Community Foundation, Yolanda Vega of the Mayfair Improvement Initiative, Fred Blackwell of 7th Street/McClymonds Corridor and Connie Walker of Walker & Associates. Tim Stanton, fellow and former director of the Haas Center, will serve as moderator.
