Amy J. Blue Awards Committee: Dedicated to dedication

The Amy J. Blue Awards Committee, composed of past recipients and members of the faculty and staff, selects the university employees who exemplify dedication to accomplishment, commitment to people and enthusiasm.

Established in honor of the late associate vice president for administrative services and facilities, the award carries a $3,000 prize, a plaque and an "A" parking permit for each recipient. The winners will be feted at a May 22 awards ceremony.

A record number of 430 staff, faculty and students nominated 73 staff members for the top award presented to staff at Stanford. "The committee always has a very difficult time narrowing down the selections to a final three award recipients -- of course we wish we had 10 or even 20 awards to give," says Susan Schofield, chair of the awards committee.

Schofield says staff members are often nominated in more than one year. "We certainly encourage nominators who feel strongly about their candidate to write to the committee again next year." SR
