Share your stance on ending racism through original art

Participate in an activity to create original art that expresses your feelings about ending racism.

Faculty and staff are invited to channel their feelings, thoughts, and creativity to visually reflect their personal commitment to end racism. Create original art and share it with others in the community, who may be inspired to use your art to reflect their own feelings.

This art sharing project sprang from a concerned staff member who felt there needed to be a way for our community to come together to show others who may be hurting that we care about them. The goal is to collect dozens of original images that could be used in virtual meetings, on Slack channels, or in other ways within the workplace that will serve to visually represent our collective stance to end racism.

All faculty and staff who create and share original art will be thanked by University Human Resources and be recognized in a gallery of images being published on the Cardinal at Work website in January 2021. The deadline for sharing art is January 15, 2021. Art may be in the form of a graphic design, a photo, a painting, a drawing, or another medium that can be shared as an image.

Art may be used broadly

It’s possible that images shared as part of this activity may be used in university-wide employee communications, such as posters or communication templates. Another potential use is to produce wearable art for select groups, such as diversity ambassadors, that would help them be recognized in the workplace.

We encourage you to channel your thoughts, feelings, and your inner/outer voice to end racism through art, and share it so others in our community can find inspiration and actively use your art to express their own voices.
