Information on campus medical emergency and resources for students

In a message to all students, Mona Hicks, senior associate vice provost and dean of students, and Susie Brubaker-Cole, vice provost for student affairs, offer resources and opportunities to connect with one another, as well as professionals, available on campus to support you through challenging times.

Dear students,

We are writing today because there was a publicly visible medical emergency in one of our graduate student residences. The student involved is receiving the care they need and we are actively working to support the student and their loved ones.

We want to acknowledge that this information comes during a particularly challenging time in the academic year. In conversations with students, many have shared feelings of high levels of stress and disconnect over the past few months. We want you to know that we are here for you. Your mental health and well-being are of the greatest importance.

There are a broad spectrum of resources and opportunities to connect with one another, as well as professionals, available on campus to support you through challenging times. The links below can help you learn more:

You are not alone. If you are looking for support, we hope you will reach out to these resources, along with your family and friends. Remember to pause and, if you are able, take the time to care for yourself or ask for help and offer support to one another.
