Here’s a peek at how the morning unfolded for Stanford economist Guido Imbens after he learned he had won the Nobel Prize in economic sciences.

Stanford economist Guido W. Imbens and his family were awakened before dawn yesterday morning by a phone call from Stockholm, Sweden, delivering the news that Imbens had been awarded the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences. A highlight of the morning, said Imbens, was being able to celebrate the accomplishments with his family – his wife, fellow Stanford economist Susan Athey, and their three children.
