Stanford University is pleased to have reached a tentative agreement with Service Employees International Union Higher Education Workers Local 2007 (SEIU) on a new five-year contract for the approximately 1,270 workers represented by SEIU at Stanford.

The agreement covers wages and working conditions for SEIU-represented employees in a variety of roles, including food service workers, custodians, maintenance workers, groundskeepers, life science technicians, accelerator technologists and others in units across the university.

Negotiations began in May for a successor to the contract that has been in effect from 2014 to August 31, 2019. Discussions between the union and the university concluded on August 31, 2019.

“The work of staff employees, including our union-represented employees, makes a vital contribution to the success of Stanford University,” said Elizabeth Zacharias, Stanford vice president for human resources. “We thank SEIU Local 2007’s negotiating team for its hard work and collaboration in reaching this tentative agreement.”

The terms of the agreement are subject to a vote of the members, which will occur next week. Additional information on the negotiations is available at https://cardinalatwork.stanford.edu/negotiations.
