Stanford launches Newark HUB satellite office

In support of Stanford’s flexible work initiative, in addition to mitigating critical issues such as affordable housing and commute times in the Bay Area, the university is introducing the Newark HUB. The satellite workspace provides a professional office environment equipped with amenities and on-site support to enrich collaboration amongst colleagues.

“As the university transitions to broader on-site work, we are pleased to offer a satellite worksite located in Newark,” said Assistant Vice President for Business Affairs Finance and Administration Luz Barragan. “The Newark Hub was designed to increase productivity and ease the commute for our employees located in the East Bay and beyond.”

About the Newark HUB

Located at 8424 Central Avenue in Newark, CA, the 10,000 square foot, Stanford-owned office space provides a mix of reservable and drop-in workstations. There are 36 hoteling workstations on a sit/stand desk with a monitor, six conference rooms, 10 phone rooms and an assortment of seating styles for 60 touchdown spots. The open workspace can accommodate 100 employees at full capacity.

The hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. – 8 p.m. To support community engagement, a community host will be on-site each weekday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Features include:

  • Free parking
  • On-site community host to welcome you, point you in the right direction and ensure workplace upkeep
  • Wellness room
  • Mezzanine lounge area
  • Pantry/kitchen area stocked with two refrigerators, two microwaves, a water and ice dispenser and basic supplies (paper plates, cups, flatware, coffee and tea)
  • Day lockers

“The Newark HUB represents a culmination of learnings from our earlier alternative worksite pilot,” said Business Affairs facility manager and emergency coordinator Denise Ochoa. “Now, this modern, beautifully designed satellite hub helps address critical issues facing the Stanford community while offering a distinctly Stanford workplace experience. We are excited to open and look forward to helping support your flexible work needs.”
