The membership of Service Employees International Union Higher Education Workers Local 2007 voted Friday, Sept. 6, to ratify a new five-year contract with Stanford.

The membership of Service Employees International Union Higher Education Workers Local 2007 (SEIU) voted Friday, Sept. 6, to ratify a new five-year contract with Stanford.

Stanford and SEIU Local 2007 negotiators reached a tentative agreement on Saturday, Aug. 31, for a new contract for approximately 1,270 employees represented by the union at Stanford. They include employees in a variety of roles, including food service workers, custodians, maintenance workers, groundskeepers, life science technicians, accelerator technologists and others in units across the university.

“We are pleased that the membership has ratified the tentative agreement,” said Elizabeth Zacharias, Stanford vice president for human resources. “These university employees play an important role in supporting Stanford’s mission. We are gratified that, with the collaboration and hard work of the SEIU Local 2007 negotiating team, we were able to reach conclusion on a new contract.”

Provisions of the new contract generally take effect immediately. The contract runs through Aug. 31, 2024.
