“Despite excellent and timely care in a New York City hospital, Laudan succumbed to a rapidly progressive brain infection on April 17,” her family said.

She was 36.

Fariborz, who joined Stanford Management Company in 2007, earned a bachelor’s degree in economics at Stanford in 1998 and an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business in 2002.

As an undergraduate, she was president of her junior and senior class, and president of Cap and Gown, an organization of junior and senior women and alumnae committed to contributing to their communities and to Stanford through meaningful service and networking events.

Fariborz was a member of the board of governors of Stanford Professionals in Real Estate (SPIRE), an officially recognized club of the Stanford Alumni Association.

“I can say with confidence that our organization would not be where it is today without her tremendous support and contribution,” Chad Hagle, president and founding board member of SPIRE, wrote in a memorial. “She was a dedicated businesswoman, Stanford Cardinal through and through, and a great friend.”

Her family has established a student scholarship fund, the Laudan Nabizadeh Fariborz Fund, in her memory, to benefit the institution she so loved.

Fariborz is survived by her husband, Mark Fariborz, and an infant daughter, both of New York; parents Manzar and Iraj Nabizadeh, and brother, Navid, of California.
