Students celebrate their mental health journeys at Flourish Together event
The second annual wellness event incorporated tables from teams across campus and a student photo exhibit.
As students went around to the various booths, they collected resource cards and free “Flourishing @ Stanford” hats and stickers.
Students visited tables staffed by teams from Well-Being at Stanford, CAPS, Recreation and Wellness, the Stanford Arts Prescribing Program, and the Center for Teaching and Learning, among other groups.
The event was led by the Office of the Vice Provost for Student Affairs’ communications team and “The Flourish,” an online publication with tips, articles, events, and resources to support student mental health and well-being.
The Recreation and Wellness team shared a cardio dance demonstration.
Resources from across campus were featured at the event, and many brought swag or materials for students to take home.
“The Flourish” is produced by the VPSA communications team and the mental health and well-being interns.
This year’s event featured “Flourish Stories,” photographs captured by students to represent experiences with mental health and well-being. The framed photos will travel to different locations around campus over the next few weeks.
Each photo was accompanied by a caption sharing more about the student's journey.
“It was a privilege to experience as the project came together how the students’ initial photos and captions changed over time to reflect deeper, more personal sentiments about how community, courage, gratitude, joy, and perseverance have shaped their mental health journeys,” said Christine Wong Mineta, director of communications for student health and well-being.
Giveaways included flowers and mental health-themed swag.
Groundbreaking innovations that begin in Stanford labs flow freely into private industry to improve human well-being, fuel the economy, and strengthen American competitiveness.
