It’s a busy time of year and you’re probably eager for your summer to begin. As you close out the academic year and move out of your Stanford residence, keep in mind that there are some protocols to follow. Failure to do so could result in fines. Below are a few helpful tips to avoid making those unnecessary payments. Have questions? Contact the front desk in your residence.
Also, there are important housing dates coming up in the next week that may apply to you, including move-out deadlines for specific populations. View the full list of deadlines.
Tips to avoid fees:
- Return all university-provided furniture to its original location.
- Return bed lofting parts to the lofting rooms locations for your region. Not sure where this is? Contact your housing front desk.
- De-loft your bed and leave the bed frame at captain’s height. More details are available here.
- Remove all personal possessions from your room or apartment.
- Clean your room or apartment. See the Student Housing Cleaning Guide for instructions. You and your roommates are jointly responsible for cleaning common areas.
- Dispose of trash and recycling in appropriate collection areas.
- Return your keys to your housing front desk by your move-out deadline. You can return your keys in an envelope outside your front desk. Place your keys in the envelope and write your name, residence and room or apartment number on the outside. If the office is closed, return the envelope through the mail slot or in the key box.
Finally, if you have unwanted items, consider donating them to Residential & Dining Enterprises’ “Give & Go” program. Items such as bikes, electronics, mattresses and mini-fridges in good condition are among the items accepted. View the list of acceptable items. You can donate your items at the Goodwill barrels or trailers located throughout residential areas. All items will be donated to people in need in local communities.
