Stanford to honor, remember community members

The Stanford community is heartbroken by the passing of students Ziwen “Jerry” Wang, Kelly Catlin and Mischa Nee last quarter. To continue the healing process together, Stanford faculty, staff, administration and students are invited to attend several memorials that will take place this week.

The Office for Religious Life will host a grief memorial, Honoring Lives and Remembering Losses, at 12:15 p.m. Thursday, April 11, in Memorial Church. The service will draw from diverse faith and non-faith traditions to structure a time for participants to honor those in their lives who have passed while participants acknowledge their own grief. Those who attend are invited to light a candle for a friend or loved one who has died.

The family of Mischa Nee will hold the following gatherings to honor him:

Wednesday, April 10
A visitation, including an open casket viewing and reflection, will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. at Alta Mesa Funeral Home and Cemetery, 695 Arastradero Road, Palo Alto.

Thursday, April 11
A funeral service, closing of the casket and burial will take place from noon to 1:15 p.m. at Alta Mesa Funeral Home and Cemetery, 695 Arastradero Road, Palo Alto.

A memorial service to celebrate Nee’s life will take place from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at Memorial Church. Doors will open at 2 p.m. Free parking will be available at Eucalyptus Grove at Lasuen Street and Campus Drive.

An informal reception hosted by friends of the Nee family will take place from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at 610 Coleridge Ave., Palo Alto.
