Mathematics Professor Tadashi Tokieda’s lectures are often compared to magic shows, with floating balls, spinning tops, and other toys used to demonstrate complex concepts. But unlike an illusionist’s sleight of hand, Tokieda’s tricks are designed to be reproducible. “This is a special brand of magic that has a traditional name,” he says. “It’s called science. If you try it, it works too.”
