Ramadan observances on campus

Stanford’s Office for Religious & Spiritual Life has prepared background and guidance on observances, accommodations, and dining options for Ramadan 2024, which begins at sunset on March 10 and ends at sunset on April 9. Eid will be celebrated on April 10.

Ramadan will be a month of communal fasting, prayer, and introspection for millions of Muslims around the world, including hundreds of students, faculty, and staff at Stanford. The university wants to make sure that campus community members have appropriate opportunities to observe holy days that are meaningful to them.

The materials and the office’s calendar of religious observances are resources both for those celebrating holy days and needing to seek accommodations from professors and managers, and for instructors, managers, and other colleagues planning classroom and work schedules. Stanford Dining also has Ramadan programs and accommodations.

Office for Religious & Spiritual Life staff are available for community members seeking more details about upcoming observances or have questions about the best ways to support other community members.
