Here’s what’s new for spring quarter at the Stanford Learning Lab

The Stanford Learning Lab team continues to offer innovative programming to help students manage their time, productivity, and self-awareness around their unique learning needs.

This spring quarter, the Stanford Learning Lab team will continue to offer innovative programming to help students manage their time, productivity, and self-awareness around their unique learning needs.  In addition to our LLIT and EF programs led by our Learning Specialists,  we continue to provide Drop-In sessions for students who would like a quick consultation with our Learning Specialists.

We offer many unique ways for students to learn from one another:

  • PEN, our Peer Engagement Network, is a great way to meet students with like-minded interests to focus on productivity, academics, and social connection.
  • Our student groups provide a myriad of ways to connect.  Graduate students can now register for Revise & Resubmit (R&R), a writing community to support writers throughout their dissertation, thesis, and scholarly publications. Facilitated by Dr. Mitch Dandignac, R&R is a place to share writing strategies, provide feedback and support, and get words on the page.  Fail Better is a new group for all Stanford graduate and undergrad students facilitated by Carolyn Wilsey that provides a safe space for workshopping self-compassionate responses to perceived imperfections and applying research-based strategies to increase the health and resilience of your self-concept.

We are so excited to announce that Stanford’s first Assignment Calculator is available for both students and faculty.  This tool has been developed to break down step-by-step task analysis functionality to help students manage large, multi-step assignments such as research and writing.  All you need to do is select the type of assignment, choose a date the project is due, and the Assignment Calculator will break down the task into very concrete tasks per day, which you can import to your online calendar.  Faculty interested in creating assignments specific to their courses may use the Assignment Creation Form to set up a meeting with a member of our team.  We envision that the Stanford Assignment Calculator could be quite useful to all faculty who create complex, time-intensive projects.

Our website continues to grow and expand its Learning Library, offering unique strategies, suggestions for tech tools to enhance learning, and videos on a wide span of topics related to learning.  Subscribe to our YouTube channel so you will be updated as new content is added!
