The Chan Zuckerberg Biohub seeks applications for 2022 cohort of CZ Biohub Investigators

The program provides $1 million in unrestricted funding over a five-year term to pursue research across a range of disciplines.

The Chan Zuckerberg Biohub is requesting applications for the 2022 cohort of CZ Biohub Investigators. Biohub is accepting applications from faculty members from Stanford, UCSF or Berkeley who are eligible to serve as a principal investigator for federal and other grants. This opportunity provides $1 million in unrestricted gift funding over a non-renewable five-year term to pursue research across a spectrum of disciplines. Awards are expected to be announced by Jan. 15, 2022, and plan to start on March 1, 2022. The deadline for receipt of applications is April 1, 2021.

“This funding is unrestricted, giving these extraordinary investigators the freedom to pursue their riskiest, most exciting ideas,” explains the CZ Biohub Investigator Program webpage. “Many of these high-risk projects will involve the invention of new tools and new techniques that accelerate the pace of scientific discovery and help the CZ Biohub realize its vision of curing, preventing or managing every disease in our children’s lifetime.”

The scope of Investigator research is open to all areas of biology, biomedical research and technology development, and Biohub welcomes applications from faculty members from diverse disciplines, such as engineering, computer science, mathematics and statistics, the physical sciences, chemistry, clinical and biomedical sciences, public health and the biological sciences. Faculty in the early stages of their career and faculty from groups underrepresented in science, engineering and the clinical sciences are highly encouraged to apply.
