Schneider previously served as Stanford’s assistant university archivist for six years and is an active member of the Society of American Archivists and the Society of California Archivists. As assistant university archivist, Schneider was involved in appraising, processing and providing access to archival content documenting university administration, faculty, staff, campus and student life.

“With Josh’s appointment, we will continue the excellent work started, and just as important, we will have a person leading University Archives who is forward-thinking and very engaged on campus and beyond, which will undoubtedly serve Stanford quite well,” said ROBERTO TRUJILLO, associate university librarian for Special Collections.

Schneider started in his new role just as the coronavirus pandemic was unfolding and initiated a program for the Stanford community to share personal experiences as it relates to local, national and global responses. The collection of stories and other official documentation will be added to the archives to help capture the impact of this unprecedented time.
