Trustee Goodwin Liu nominated to U.S. Appeals Court
When GOODWIN LIU was nominated by President Obama to the United States Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit, folks on the Farm beamed Cardinal pride. Liu may be an associate dean and professor of law at UC Berkeley, but he’s a Stanford trustee and an alum. During his undergraduate years, Liu was a student program assistant at the Haas Center for Public Service and later served for several years on the center’s National Advisory Board. He earned a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from Stanford in 1991, studied at Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar and earned his law degree at Yale. If confirmed, Liu will not be the first trustee to serve on the 9th Circuit. United States 9th Circuit Judge PAMELA RYMER, LLB ’64, served on the Board of Trustees from 1991 to 2001.
