Bringing down the house

Casa Naranja Resident Fellow ROD TAYLOR, a lecturer in the Program in Writing and Rhetoric, brought the house down in Roble Hall theater last week when he jammed with renowned bass guitarist Steve Bailey. Taylor, a bass guitarist himself, and his wife, KRISTEN TAYLOR, program administrator in mechanical engineering, applied to Resident Education’s Riddell Funds to bring Bailey to campus for master classes and a rocking concert in the theater of Naranja’s neighbor, Roble Hall. Bailey, an associate professor of music at Coastal Carolina University and artistic director of the Bass Extremes International Solo Competition, has toured with Dizzy Gillespie, Mick Jagger and Jethro Tull.
