Forum on new media and political campaigns

Jonathan Alter, a senior editor and columnist at Newsweek, will join Dan Schnur, a Republican media strategist, at 8 p.m. Sunday, July 15, in Annenberg Auditorium to discuss political messaging in the era of blogs, YouTube and mobile media.

David Demarest, Stanford's vice president for public affairs and a former White House communications director, will moderate the discussion.

Presented by the Aurora Forum and the Stanford Publishing Course, the event, "New Media and Political Campaigns," is free and open to the public. Doors open at 7 p.m.

The speakers will look at how "new media" is influencing political campaigns and what the future of democratic processes might look like with the emergence of an unregulated electronic town hall.
