Main campus returns to weekday parking enforcement

Beginning June 16, Stanford will return to weekday enforcement for commuter parking; parking at the main campus will no longer be enforced 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Stanford Transportation implemented 24/7-parking enforcement in November 2020 in accordance with Stanford’s campus zones. Establishing campus zones enabled the university to comply with State of California guidance while resuming teaching and research operations curbed by COVID-19.

As COVID-19 guidance evolves and Stanford’s main campus enters a phased reopening, parking enforcement is returning to normal. Beginning June 16, most commuter and visitor spaces will be enforced between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. on weekdays, or according to posted signage. Enforcement hours at Stanford Redwood City have continued to be from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays.

Commuter and resident enforcement hours as of June 16

  • ‘A’, ‘C,’ ‘C-SRWC,’ ‘E,’ ‘Z,’ shared resident/commuter lots and service vehicle spaces will be enforced Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., unless otherwise posted. This includes commuter parking at Stanford Redwood City.
  • ‘A’ parking at the Oval will be enforced Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Resident and student resident lots will be enforced 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • ‘ES’/‘C’ shared parking in Quillen Court, McFarland Court, Jenkins Court, and Hulme Court, and adjacent sections of Olmsted Road are enforced 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Please refer to our Parking & Circulation Map for current parking designations.

What this means for commuters and residents

Stanford affiliates with valid parking permits do not need to take action. Those without a permit who need to park during enforcement hours need to purchase a permit through our online ordering portal.

  • For commuters and residents who already have a valid Stanford parking permit or who have an  ‘After-Hours’ courtesy permit, no action is needed.
    • Stanford commuter permits continue to be valid during enforcement hours.
    • The ‘After-Hours’ courtesy permit will expire on June 30 and will not be needed once evening and weekend enforcement ends on June 16.
    • Prior to June 30, ‘After-Hours’ courtesy permit holders who wish to purchase a June monthly permit must return their ‘After-Hours’ courtesy permit before they can purchase a monthly permit.
  • Stanford affiliates who do not have a valid permit must purchase a permit to park during enforcement hours.

Visitor parking

Visitor parking spaces were temporarily removed from the campus core as part of the campus zones program. With the return of weekday parking enforcement on June 16, visitor spaces are being restored throughout campus.

  • Visitor parking will be enforced on weekdays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., unless otherwise posted.
  • Visitor parking at Beckman Center/Li Ka Shing Center Lot (L-15) will be enforced Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Visitor parking at Stanford Redwood City continues to be enforced Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Hourly visitor parking is available through the ParkMobile app or website.
  • Posted time limits in visitor parking areas continue to apply.

Stanford visitors, including those visiting residents, have two options for purchasing parking:
