5 steps to getting started with surveillance testing

Fully vaccinated faculty, staff and postdocs returning to work on-site will need to test themselves for COVID-19 once per week. Unvaccinated faculty, staff and postdocs working on-site four or more days per week are required to test twice per week. Here’s how to get started.

 1. Create your testing account

Visit the Color Health website to create your account using your primary Stanford email address. Use a different password than your SUNET ID password.

2. Pick up your test kits

On your first day scheduled to work on-site, visit one of the testing sites and present your Stanford ID to pick up your testing kits; you can pick up several kits at once for future tests.

3. Activate your test kit and collect your sample

Sign in to your Color Health account to activate your test kit. Once your kit is activated and you have received a confirmation email, you may collect your sample.

If you plan to pick up your kit, collect your sample and drop off your test on the same visit, you may want to watch the Activating & Collecting Your Sample video ahead of time.

4. Drop off your sample

After collecting your sample, be sure to return it to the testing site on the same day. Drop your sample at a testing site during open hours, or at one of the 24/7 drop bins (last pick up is 5 p.m. daily).

5. Get your results

In 24 to 72 hours, you’ll receive an email and text notification to log into your Color Health account to review your results. You can still report to on-site work while you wait for your results. Your results will automatically report into Health Check.
