Annual Alumni Dance Concert scheduled for Oct. 25

The Stanford dance division will present the annual Alumni Dance Concert at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, in the Roble Dance Studio, 375 Santa Teresa St., on the Stanford campus.

The concert will feature original choreography and performances by alumni, many of whom are professionally involved in dance, either as teachers, performers or choreographers. Offerings range in style from modern dance and jazz dance to technologic combinations of modern dance and interactive lighting, to video combining Kathak classical Indian dance with art, science and technology.

The winner of the fifth annual Mary Edith Clifford Award also will be announced at the concert. This award provides financial support to an alumnus to choreograph a dance piece for current Stanford students. Clifford, who died in 1994, spearheaded the construction of Roble Dance Studio in the 1920s and is remembered for her lifelong support of the dance division.

A $5 donation is requested at the door to help maintain the Clifford Award.

Roble Dance Studio is wheelchair accessible.
