Stanford Channel expands June 1

Beginning June 1, Stanford's Channel 51 can be seen in Portola Valley, Woodside, King's Mountain and Sky Londa, says Jan Thomson, director of Communication Services. For the last two years, it has been available on campus and in Menlo Park, Palo Alto, East Palo Alto and Atherton.

The expansion follows the purchase of Palo Alto-based Cable Co-op's franchise by TCI (Tele-Communications Inc.), the largest cable provider in the United States. Thomson says broadcasting may also be expanded soon to Los Altos and Cupertino. The channel typically broadcasts taped events on campus although commencement ceremonies on June 15 will be shown live, she says.
