Oct. 11 service scheduled for student who died

STANFORD -- A memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, in Memorial Church for Channing Werner Stowell, a senior in symbolic systems who died Aug. 4 at the age of 21. Stowell was a member of the Kappa Epsilon fraternity, attended honors college and taught tennis in East Palo Alto. He spent the fall 1994 quarter at the Stanford in Florence program and was active in a number of public service projects. Many of Stowell's family members plan to travel from Illinois to attend the service. The family prefers donations in Stowell's memory be made to the National Depressive and Manic Depressive Association, 730 N. Franklin St., Chicago, IL 60610.
