School of Engineering honors staff service

STANFORD -- Staff members at the School of Engineering who have been with the department for more than five years were honored at a reception March 2. Fifteen staff members also received a special award for their efforts in various successful reorganization efforts undertaken by the school.

Engineering Dean Jim Gibbons and department chairs handed out service pins to about 50 staff members. Special recognition was given to those with 20 years or more on the job: Rene Cortinaz (20 years); Janis Dyche (20 years); Naomi Schulman (20 years); Paul Jerabek (25 years); Richard Van Patten (30 years); Vadim Matte (35 years); Bill Shoemaker (35 years); and Jerry Yarbrough (35 years).

Special recognition, accompanied by cash awards, was given to the following:

• Nancy Florence, department administrator in Engineering- Economic Systems and Operations Research, was honored for her leadership and contributions to the administrative merging of the two departments.
• Members of the Research Administration team - Dave Dungan, Julie Fraser-Smith, LaJauna Guillory, Gail Ragsdale, Sharon Wormley, and Margaret Timothy - were recognized for their role in planning the consolidation of the Electrical Engineering Research Administration, the Computer Science Research Administration and the School of Engineering's Research Administration into a single office called the Engineering Research Administration.
• Also singled out for recognition were staff members who collaborated in the research administration overhaul: Anid Banuelos, Sharon Bergman, Keith Chinn, Richard Dodge, Kay Mahon, Patti McCabe, Patti Pickering and Brenda Sampson
