Sports Hall of Fame to maintain regular schedule

STANFORD -- The new Sydney and Theodore Rosenberg Stanford Athletic Hall of Fame Room on the first floor of the Arrillaga Family Sports Center will be open to the public on a regular basis starting this week.

As of Saturday, Nov. 5, the room will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays, and from 10 a.m. to noon on home football game days, and staffed by volunteer docents. (The final two home games of this year are on Nov. 5 and Nov. 12.)

In the Hall of Fame Room, sports fans not only can see Jim Plunkett's Heisman Trophy but also can instantly call up on a screen action highlights of great moments in Cardinal athletic history. The university's teams and athletes, over the past decade, have won more NCAA championships than any other institution in the nation.

Displays in the 6,000-square-foot room include trophies, pictures, uniforms and interactive video screens. On one wall are the names of the 241 athletes who have been elected to the Hall of Fame. Donated items are welcome, and will be recorded and cataloged by the University Archives.

The Hall of Fame Room was made possible by a gift from Sydney Rosenberg, '36, a member of the "Vow Boys" football teams, and his brother, Theodore.
