Services for Allen Peterson scheduled for Oct. 24

STANFORD -- A memorial service for Allen M. Peterson, professor emeritus of electrical engineering, is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24, at Memorial Church. A reception will be held immediately following in the Quad.

Peterson, who died Aug. 17 of a heart attack at his Los Altos home, was 72. He was a member of the National Academy of Engineering and a prolific contributor to diverse aspects of commercial, environmental and national defense developments over four decades.

He also was a senior adviser to SRI International in Menlo Park and the Scientific Applications International Corp.

The Department of Electrical Engineering has announced the establishment of the Allen M. Peterson Memorial Fund. The fund will be used to assist graduate students. Peterson remained active in advising graduate students after his retirement.
