Horngren named Accountant of the Year

STANFORD -- Adding to his accolades for a lifetime of leadership in accounting, Charles T. Horngren, Edmund W. Littlefield Professor of Accounting at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business, has been honored by the national fraternity of professional accountants as the 1993 recipient of the Accountant of the Year Award.

"His impact on accounting education is evidenced by the numerous articles and accounting textbooks that he has authored," wrote the Marquette University chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, the accounting fraternity, in nominating Horngren. "Accounting educators have been using his cost accounting text for the past 30 years, further demonstrating his impact on people and the profession."

Horngren has been honored in the past for his work in

accounting and for his achievements as an educator and has been elected to the Accounting Hall of Fame.
