Mud volleyball to benefit Muscular Dystrophy Association

STANFORD -- Stanford's Kappa Alpha fraternity will host its seventh annual Mud Volleyball Classic from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, on the Stanford campus.

The tournament - played in six inches of mud on the Lagunita lakebed - has become one of the most visible fundraisers on campus in recent years.

Proceeds collected from advertising sponsorships and team fees are donated to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Last year, the event earned $10,000.

Nearly 70 student groups, businesses and clubs from throughout the Bay Area have entered teams and will bring along their own cheering sections. The event is free and open to the public. There will be food, drink and music.

More information is available from Christopher Bulger at the Kappa Alpha House, 664 Lomita Court, Stanford CA 94305. The phone number is (415) 497-5405.
