Police release sketch of attempted kidnap suspect

STANFORD -- Stanford University police have released a sketch of the suspect in an attempted kidnapping that occurred on campus Wednesday, April 22.

A photocopy of the sketch is attached.

Police are asking that anyone with information on the case contact them at (415) 723-9633. People who see the suspect should call 9-1-1.

The suspect attempted to kidnap a 12-year-old girl near the intersection of Stanford Avenue and Bowdoin Street at 5:50 p.m. Wednesday, April 22. The suspect forcibly carried the girl for a short distance before the child was able to escape.

The child was not harmed in the incident.

The suspect is a Caucasian male in his early 30s, is 5-foot-10 and average build, no facial hair, with bright green eyes set wide apart. He has a visible mole on the neck.

At the time of the attempted kidnapping he wore a blue, long-sleeve zippered hooded sweatshirt; light grey running shorts; white running shoes; and white socks.
