Improved pedestrian crossing to be constructed across Campus Drive

STANFORD -- Work will begin Thursday, April 23, on the construction of an improved crosswalk across Campus Drive between Parking Structure One and the Medical Center.

The crosswalk will be made of decorative pavers and elevated about three inches, providing a speed hump that should slow traffic on Campus Drive, officials with Facilities Project Management say.

In conjunction with the crosswalk work, the Medical Center side "barrel" of Campus Drive, between Quarry Road and Roth Way, also will be reconstructed.

To allow for the two projects, that barrel of Campus Drive will be closed for a three-week period starting April 23. During the closure, Campus Drive through traffic will be detoured via Lomita Drive and Roth Way. The main campus side barrel of Campus Drive will be closed one lane at a time and will not require a detour. Pedestrians crossing between the parking structure and Medical Center will be detoured to the crossing at Roth Way.

The work will be completed prior to commencement.
