Foreign correspondents to speak on former Soviet Union

STANFORD -- Ann Cooper, former National Public Radio Moscow correspondent and William Keller, ex-New York Times Moscow bureau chief, will speak on "The End of an Empire" at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, in the Oak Lounge of Tresidder Union at Stanford University.

Both reporters recently returned to the United States after long-term assignments in the former Soviet Union.

The talk is free and open to the public. The presentation is sponsored by the Center for Russian and East European Studies, the Slavic Languages and Literatures Department and the Department of Communication.

Because of the importance of NPR and the New York Times in reaching influential people in the United States, Cooper and Keller were accorded unusual access to Soviet decision makers.
