Music department to hold auditions Sept. 23-24

The Department of Music will hold auditions for a variety of performing ensembles Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 23-24. Some ensembles are open to community members on a space-available basis. Singers may audition for the Chamber Chorale, Symphonic Chorus, Memorial Church Choir and University Singers.

Ensembles for instrumentalists include Symphony and Chamber Orchestras, Symphonic and Marching Bands, and Percussion Ensemble, as well as a number of smaller chamber music groups. For those interested in more specialized types of music, there are Jazz Bands and Combos, Alea II: New Music Ensemble, and three groups specializing in early music -- Early Music Singers, Baroque Orchestra and Renaissance Wind Band.

Auditions also will be held on these dates for piano classes; private lessons in voice, strings or piano (auditions are required for all students); and accompanists (there are openings available for either class credit or pay).

Please visit the music department office in Braun Music Center for information on times and locations of auditions, or phone 723-3811.
