Hoover names Smith associate director

STANFORD -- Hoover Institution Director John Raisian announced on Wednesday, May 1, the appointment of Catherine S. Smith as Associate Director for Resource Development.

Since 1987, Smith has been vice president of development and public affairs at the Cato Institute in Washington, D.C. She will assist Raisian with development and implementation of the Institution's fundraising program.

"Smith's experience and expertise in fund raising for public policy research will make her an effective and valuable representative of the Hoover Institution," Raisian said. "We look forward to her joining our administrative team."

Smith begins her duties at Hoover in mid-May.

From 1981 to 1986, she was director of communications at the American Business Conference, a coalition of chief executive officers with headquarters in Washington, D.C.
