Photographer Nicholas Nixon to speak Saturday; reception, open house will follow

Nicholas Nixon, a professor of photography at the Massachusetts College of Art, is scheduled to give a talk titled "A Life in Photography" at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, in Annenberg Auditorium.

The event is free and open to the public.

A reception will follow in the lobby of the Cummings Art Building, and there also will be an open house in the newly renovated photography laboratory (at the Stanford Art Gallery).

Nixon is best known for his intimate portraits of people. Working with an 8-by-10-inch view camera, he combines the spontaneity usually associated with 35-millimeter street photography with the clarity and precision of the large-format camera.
