Web Developer (Temporary Position)

The Stanford Very Low Frequency (VLF) Group, part of Stanford's Electrical Engineering Department, is looking for a web developer on a temporary basis to help make our data available to the domestic and international community. Over the past decade, we have acquired over 200 TB of digital data, and are currently expanding that collection by at least 35 TB/year. We are currently in the process of moving this data from DVDs to a networked data server. We are seeking a web developer capable of creating an online front end to our data collection to allow public interested parties to download selected segments of our raw data or data products. Applicants should be experienced working with the Apache web server running on Ubuntu Linux, along with PHP, Perl, Javascript or similar scripting languages. Experience with databases is required, though the actual approach to databasing will be left open to the developer. Most of our research group interfaces with our data via Matlab scripts, so familiarity with Matlab would be helpful. We estimate that this task will require one month of full-time effort, but we are willing to hire on a part-time basis at no less than eight hours per week. Please send your cover memo, resume and reference list to Maria Spasojevic at “
