Professor to discuss students' desire to learn in free lecture

Carol Dweck, a professor of social psychology, will discuss how teachers can develop students' motivation and success at 4 p.m. Friday, April 22. "Fostering Students' Desire to Learn," a Cubberley Lecture Series event, will be held in the Center for Educational Research at Stanford (CERAS), Room 100B. Dweck, who joined the faculty last year after teaching at Columbia, has pioneered the study of how children's self-beliefs and goals influence their learning and academic achievement. Dweck will describe how teachers can enhance student learning based on the idea of expandable intelligence. The lecture is free and open to the public.
