|Police Chief Marvin Herrington to retire
Marvin Herrington, the university's police chief for 30 years, will retire May 1.
Herrington, 64, said he will relinquish the day-to-day running of the department March 1, when Capt. Marvin Moore, a 27-year veteran campus officer, will become acting chief pending the appointment of a permanent replacement. Herrington will spend his last two months on campus organizing files and completing projects, he said, but will remain available as a resource for the university.
In conjunction with Herrington's retirement, police sergeants Laura Wilson, Hilary Karp and Tim Hanrahan were promoted to the rank of lieutenant, effective Jan. 1.
retrospective story on Herrington's career will appear in a future
issue of Stanford Report.
