Claerbout receives Erasmus Award for work in resources exploration

Jon F. Claerbout, the Cecil H. and Ida M. Green Professor of Geophysics, and director of the Stanford Exploration Project in the School of Earth Sciences, has been selected as this year's recipient of the Erasmus Award, given by the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers. The association's highest honor is given in recognition of outstanding and lasting achievements in the science and profession of resources exploration. A member of the Stanford faculty since 1967, Claerbout works on underground imaging problems for the geophysical survey industry. The award will be presented at the organization's annual meeting in Glasgow, Scotland, in May.
