Free investment and retirement workshops slated for May

During May, the "Building a Future of Choices Workshop" series for investment and retirement planning will be offered at various times and locations throughout the university.

Two new workshops this year -- "Women and Money" and "Personal Financial Planning Resources" -- will be among the topics offered. Most workshops are held during the lunch hour or in the late afternoon or early evening.

Next week the Office of Total Compensation will mail brochures that list the workshop schedule to faculty and staff.

Representatives from Vanguard, Fidelity Investments, the Social Security Administration, the Office of Total Compensation and TIAA-CREF will host the events.

There is no cost to attend and reservations are not required; seating is available on a first-come basis.

The series kicks off Monday, May 1, with "Retirement Planning: Getting Started," to be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Orange Room (Rooms 140 and 150) of the Central Laboratory, Building 40, at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center.

"Building Your Basic Financial Game Plan" will be presented from noon to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, in the Amy Blue Conference Room at 651 Serra St.

"Managing Your Retirement: A Pre-Retirement Workshop" will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, in the Amy Blue Conference Room.
